Videos

These are videos made in Multimedia Storytelling showcasing a collection of news and feature stories through film. Before this class, I did not know how to operate a DSLR camera or edit videos. I learned to use Adobe Premiere in editing and effective techniques in framing, that helped effectively tell a story. I was able to creatively put myself into my films and push myself out of my comfort zone.

Feature Story

The Feature Project was our final semester's film and I had gained enough knowledge of effective camera use and storytelling. The documentary-style project was focused on Newport, Rhode Island's non-profit organization, Conexion Latina. Not many students knew about the organization, so it was refreshing to be
able to educate others on a usetu non-protit that was right in their neighborhood. I interviewed the staff including the co-founder, Rebekah Gomez. I used appropriate background music, cuts, transitions, and narration to execute the project.

Montage Project

The Montage Project's objective was to create a 60-second video
montage that could be used to recruit students to Salve Regina
University. My goal was to show the lively community and the welcoming faces that Salve Regina offers. I chose to get first-hand information by interviewing students. My shots Included movement around campus including students walking to and from classes and the busy street of Ochre
Point.

News Package

The news package required me to film myself on camera and introduce a newsworthy story. I chose to cover Salve Regina's Multicultural Festival in a positive light, trying to get students to attend the festival. I interviewed two of Salve's staff members, Rose Albert and Dr. Sami Nassim, who run the Multicultural programs on campus. I was able to observe one of the events
and use my writing skills to conduct useful interviews.
